COMEDIES

Due Date (2010)

The Other Guys (2010)

Rated PG-13 | Where to watch: AppleTV | Amazon | Google Play

Will Ferrel and Mark Wahlberg star as two desk jockey NYPD detectives who find themselves deep in an unexpectedly important case. Comedy ensues as the two work together to prove themselves just as heroic as the rest of the force.

The Muppet Movie (1979)

Rated G | Where to watch: Disney+ | Amazon | Google Play

One day we’ll find it…the rainbow connection. Follow Kermit the Frog, Fozzy Bear, and the rest of the crew in the origin story of The Muppet Show. This family-friendly comedy is full of witty one-liners and heart-warming fun.

The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018)

Rated R | Where to watch: Peacock | Amazon | Google Play

Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis star as two best friends who get swept up in action-movie-level spy business for which they are very unequipped to handle. Comedy ensues as they take up the challenge plopped in their laps by a spy ex-boyfriend.

Step Brothers (2008)

Rated R | Where to watch: Netflix | Amazon | Google Play

From the same team that brought you Talladega Nights, Step Brothers answers the comedic question: what happens when two adult sons who refuse to grow up find themselves part of the same family after their parents fall in love?

The Office (2005-2013)

Rated TV-12+ | Where to watch: Peacock | Amazon | Google Play

Okay so not technically a movie, but still worth mentioning if you’re in the mood for some comedy. Our team asked us to include this NBC comedy series classic – The Office. Follow the misadventures and humor of the mundane in this long-running series starring the likes of Steve Carell and Rainn Wilson among others in a full ensemble of comedians in this mockumentary sitcom about life at a paper company.

CULT CLASSICS

Time Bandits (1981)

Rated PG | Where to watch: HBOmax | Amazon | Google Play

Bordering on avante garde cinema, Time Bandits is a fantasy adventure from the writers of Monty Python directed by Terry Gilliam. This film features absurdity, imagination, and time travel as you might expect from the minds of Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam and cinematography from Peter Biziou (the mind behind Pink Floyd’s The Wall).

The Big Lebowski (1998)

Rated R | Where to watch: Peacock | Amazon | Google Play

The Dude abides in this neo-noir crime drama comedy by the Coen Brothers. A laidback penniless bowling aficionado is swept up into the drama of the rich and famous in L.A. and hired as a bagman in a ransom situation that goes awry.

The Shining (1980)

Rated R | Where to watch: HBOmax | Amazon | Google Play

While scary movies might not be everyone’s cup of tea while they’re high – we can make an exception for The Shining if only because of its impact on the genre. Based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King and directed by Stanley Kubrick, The Shining is the story of a family descending into the grips of paranoia and paranormal encounters while isolated and snowed in at the Overlook Hotel.

Thanks for sticking with us to the end! As the days get shorter and the nights get cozier & perfect for snuggling up with a film, we hope that some of these suggestions help you find the right movie! Do you have a favorite go-to flick for watching high? Let us know in the comments!
