What is the Delta-8 Cannabinoid?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]What is the Delta-8 Cannabinoid?

Within the cannabis plant, there are hundreds of compounds. In recent years, we have just started to unlock and discover the therapeutic benefits of just a few of them. Today we are going to talk about delta-8-THC and why it has started to get a lot of buzz within the cannabis industry.

Delta-8-THC is one of the four types of cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Unlike it’s more common cousin, delta-9-THC, it only makes up less than 1% of the total cannabinoids present in dried cannabis. While both delta-8 and delta-9 can deliver a high, recent studies and user experiences have suggested that delta-8 delivers a host of desirable therapeutic effects. It’s been suggested that the cannabinoid helps with relaxation, stress relief, nausea, as well as appetite simulation better than other cannabinoids while delivering less (2/3rds in some estimates) of a psychotropic effect. Based on this information, labs have been isolating delta-8 and/or converting delta-9 to delta-8 to produce cannabis products that aim at producing these desired therapeutic effects. These extractions often result in a product with greater than 60% of the cannabinoids being delta-9. Accordingly, many people see these extractions (which are also touted as tasting cleaner and less harsh when ingested) as the waive of the future in the cannabis industry. If you are looking for a mellower high with relaxation and increased bliss, delta-8 extractions may be for you!

Currently, a host of delta-8 products exist in the cannabis market, recreationally, and medically.
